Advancing Big Neuroimaging Data Analysis for Precision Diagnostics

Modern neurotechnologies produce massive, complex imaging data from multiple modalities that reflect brain structure and function in disease and health, leading neuroimaging to the “big data” era. Big data provides unprecedented opportunities to develop computational approaches that can deliver personalized, quantitative disease indexes of diagnostic and prognostic value. Such biomarkers have the potential to quantify the risk of developing a disease, track the disease progression or the effect of pharmacological interventions in clinical trials, and deliver patient specific diagnosis before measurable clinical effects occur. However, big data analyses also pose important challenges. Specifically, i) the high dimensionality of the data may hinder the extraction of interpretable and reproducible information; while ii) heterogeneity, which is increasingly recognized as a key feature of brain diseases, limits the use of current analytical tools. In this talk, I will discuss novel computat

Mini Byte: Google Forms (online) New!

You can reduce the number of paper forms or back and forth emails to collect data with Google Forms, but did you know that with Google Forms you can view or print individual response, send people a form with their name already filled out, and automatically get an email when someone submits a form? Google Forms are mobile device friendly and some departments on campus have even used them as training tools for their students by including YouTube videos to watch and then testing their knowledge. You can even have the form skip around depending on how your recipients answer questions. Google Forms shows results in summary, individually, and in a Google Sheet that is shareable and has many of the same features as Excel like functions and charting. Learn more in this online training, Thursday, March 22nd 11:00-11:30am.
