A picture is worth a thousand words – with screenshots and videos, you can record what’s on your computer screen rather than trying to describe it with text. This workshop will show you how to take videos and screenshots (pictures) of your computer screen using tools you already have on your Mac! We’ll also look at how to share these by pasting into an email, post, or help ticket or uploading to YouTube. This training is online, Thur., Nov 29, 11:00-11:30am.

SeaWulf HPC Training Workshop
IACS is sponsoring a SeaWulf HPC training workshop on Thursday, December 6th, in the IACS Seminar Room from 1 – 3 pm. This workshop is aimed at researchers (primarily grad students, but professors, postdocs, and undergrads are welcome too!) who are interested in using HPC resources for their research but have limited experience in this area.

CELT College Teaching Seminars: 11/28, 3:00-4:30: Evidence Based Teaching Practices III, Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning (POGIL), Grad School Conf Rm Old Comp Sci
The seminar includes a discussion of different pedagogical techniques, highlighting one course framework: POGIL, used in a large Chemistry lecture. Participants will work on assessment within this framework and participate in developing an assessment or a similar activity.

Scott works as a digital and applied learning specialist in CELT. He earned his Ph.D. from SBU’s English Department in May 2018, where his dissertation focused on achieving a better understanding of community and identity among marginalized groups in early America through the study of newspaper literature.

Margaret Anne Schedel is a composer and cellist specializing in the creation and performance of ferociously interactive media whose works have been performed throughout the United States and abroad. She ran SUNY’s first Coursera Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) in 2013. As an Associate Professor of Music at Stony Brook University, she serves as Co-Director of Computer Music and is the Director of cDACT, the consortium for digital art, culture and technology.

Inclusive Emergency Preparedness in Suffolk County

The Department of Periodontology is seeking volunteers for a clinical research study. The purpose of this study is to evaluate a technique for reducing periodontal pockets. The study requires you come to the dental clinic for between 11 to 16 visits over 5 months.
