IMPORTANT New Regulations for Human Subjects Research Effective January 21, 2019

New regulations apply to research studies approved on or after January 21, 2019. Key changes include revised Exempt categories and process, elimination of continuing review for many minimal risk studies, addition of key information to the informed consent document, and changes to handling of identifiable information and bio specimens.

Research on Periodontal Disease

The Department of Periodontology is seeking volunteers for a clinical research study. The purpose of this study is to evaluate a technique for reducing periodontal pockets. The study requires you come to the dental clinic for between 11 to 16 visits over 5 months. Research on Dental Implants

The Department of Periodontology is seeking volunteers for a clinical research study to evaluate an Over-The-Counter (OTC) periodontal rinse for relieving discomfort rather than medically treating Peri-Implant Mucositis. The study requires 5 visits over 3 months at the dental clinic. You must have a dental implant for more than 1 year, have at least 20 natural teeth, good general health and be a non-smoker.
