Hello and welcome to my website! My name is Christopher Freda and I’m currently a first-year Master’s student in Biomedical Engineering at Stony Brook University. It still feels different to state that I’m studying in the field of biomedical engineering, mainly because it’s a new field for me. As an undergraduate I studied Pharmacy for 2.5 years and was certain since the age of 17 that I’d be a pharmacist. Things changed and I eventually graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Biology, from which I immediately started school at Stony Brook as a Biomedical Engineering student.
I’m enjoying the program thus far, and am grateful for all the faculty and friends I’ve met this past semester. Coming from St. John’s University where I was not exposed to research opportunities, I was nervous to begin working in a lab for the first time. Fortunately I’ve had a warm welcoming from Dr. David Rubenstein and all the students in his lab. I’ve yet to begin my own personal project but I’ve been putting a lot of time into the lab working with other students and learning many lab techniques I’ve never been exposed to.
