Welcome to the course site for HON 115:  The Continuing Global Challenges of Infectious Diseases: From Anthrax to Zika which will be held on Wednesday’s at 5:00PM in the Administration Building, Suite 310 President’s Conference Room for the Spring 2019 semester.

Infectious diseases remain a significant challenge to public health and economic development around the world.  The recent outbreak of Ebola has reminded the world again of the continuing risk of devastating epidemics.   In today’s world, no one is completely safe from the threat of even the most exotic disease.    During this semester you will learn about some of the most important infectious diseases–some are no longer threats, others remain major killers, particularly in developing countries.  You will also learn about approaches to preventing and controlling infectious diseases, and why we have not succeeded in eradicating many of the most important diseases.   At the end of the course, you will be knowledgeable about the global threats from infectious diseases, and how the United States and the world need to respond.

Please take some time to familiarize yourself with the website – review the course outline – review the guidelines.

Your first assignment is to introduce yourself to the group.  Under the “Guidelines” tab you will find the “Personal Introduction” questions.  Answer all the questions in the correct form as this assignment is worth 20 bonus points.
