Personas: International Student Organization

Back Story: ISO was founded in 2011, with the goal of supporting international students to accomplish their goals, and encouraging the value of engaging in meaningful experiences at Stony Brook University.

Age range: 17-24 (College Students)

General educational level: College

Computer/technology literacy: Intermediate

Technology access (own computer? network connection? broadband?): Own computer and phone devices

Occupation: Students, University Staffs

Environment (work, school, library…): School, library, and booked rooms

Socioeconomic group: Various, but majority working class

Gender, Race, or Ethnic group if applicable: All genders and races

Language (specific terminology as well): English

Special needs (disabilities): N/A

Cultural preferences: All cultures are explored and invited

Motivations: Improve advertisements and bring more attention to the club to get more people involved in the club and its events. Expand the organization’s communication and network to reach more international and domestic students and provide them with the necessary support they need. 

Frustrations: ISO currently doesn’t have a dedicated website for their organization, they do have an Instagram and Facebook account, however, the interaction there is very limited and doesn’t showcase everything about the club.

Ideal Experience:

  • The Organization Logo and Title are clear and the center of focus
  • The goals and purpose of the organization is presented
  • Bright and vibrant colors to catch people’s attention
  • Multiple sections to showcase events and activities
  • About Me section of members and staff
  • Clear and direct links to contact information and social media
  • Easy to use and understand for not-so-tech-savvy individuals
