Design Brief

Persona type: Hardworking Student

Name: Tre Robinson

Age: 20

Location: Stony Brook

Occupation: Full-time Commuter Student

Technical Comfort: Above-Average

Quote: “I love to find fun and relaxing activities when I’m not attending class, but the process of finding them is annoying sometimes”.

Backstory: Tre is a hardworking first-generation college student who commutes to Stony Brook University from Brooklyn.

Motivation: He enjoys the difficult challenge that his computer science classes provide, but he finds that there are not many activities he can participate in when class is over, especially since he is a commuter student. Thankfully, there is a Commuter Student Association which provides him a commuter lounge to relax in between lectures as well as planned fun activities catered to commuters like him.

Frustrations: There is no centralized website to access information for the Commuter Student Association, and Tre feels that relying on social media and the mobile applications that Stony Brook uses to get information is inconsistent and inefficient.

Ideal Experience:

  • Clean and modern design
  • Organized and easily readable
  • Allows them to see and/or RSVP to events and contact CSA all from one website
  • Accessible from mobile device as well as laptop
  • Preferably low bandwidth friendly due to limited internet connections from traveling
