Back Story:

A freshman at Stony Brook University pursuing a B.S in Computer Science with a minor in Digital Arts. It’s their first year on campus and living in Yang.

Motivations:

  • Notices that there are not a lot of underrepresented minorities in stem majors.
  • Finds out that there’s a club/org on campus that has a mission to increase the success rate of underrepresented minorities in the tech industry.
  • Notices that the org/club doesn’t have a website to promote its mission and branch out.
  • Knows that having a website is a good way to get attention and have more people know about the org/club.

Frustrations:

  • The org doesn’t have a website of its own. Their online presence is good but could be better!
  • Weekly emails are sent but they need something more!
  • More student engagement with the org.
  • Needs more recognition.

Their Ideal Experience:

  • Increased number of collab events with other student orgs on campus.
  • Increased number of members.
  • Having a website that touches base on a little bit of everything about the org.
  • Increased number of students talking about the org.
  • Having more students wear the club’s merch and having more people have their stickers.

Quote:

“This club has a good mission but needs more student engagement.”
