Infographic

As I am making a self promotional website, I took this infographic assignment as an opportunity to make a more stylized and compact version of my resume. In making this graphic, I chose to use the following data:

  • My contact information on the left: email, phone number, personal web-page URL, LinkedIn. (for privacy sake I used a fake phone number, web-page, and LinkedIn URL. These would obviously be changed to the real ones in any version I actually sent to employers)
  • Work Experience including company, time worked there, and position. As this is meant to convey the information at a quick glance,  detailed descriptions, like there are on my real resume, were left out.
  • Relevant Skills: This is the only section that actually has more detail compared to my real resume as the graphical nature allowed me to use “progress bars” to show my perceived competence in each of the skills instead of just listing them.
  • Education: I could have put a lot of different information here including classes I’ve taken and the grades I’ve gotten I decided to keep it simple again, just including the most important info (major/gpa), and major acknowledgements I’ve received.

For the colors, I chose to stick to my style guide I suggested on my logo page, primarily relying on a combination of sky-blue and yellow to provide a lively daytime sky look to go along with my sun logo. For the left column I chose a darker, less saturated blue with white text simply to stand out and appear a bit more formal for my contact info and portrait.

For the font, I chose a single simple sans-serif font for the whole image, utilizing the bold typeface for the headers and my name and the normal typeface otherwise. This type of font is commonly used in infographics for its clean minimal look.
