Complementary between typography and mark design:
The following typography design will be a great complement to the mark logo (Refer to Logo page) because it is an expansion of the Empire State Building and the Stony Brook Shield. As it expands, the Empire State building will be on the left on top of the Delta symbol, I think the sleek design blends nicely into the Delta symbol and it is on top indicating its power for this organization and it is also easily recognizable to represent New York. The stony brook shield will remain on the right. I have chosen the font of Consolas, a monospace, Sans Serif font with sharp edges to convey the power and status of the organization because Delta Sigma Pi is an organization that should be portrayed as trustworthy, powerful, and elite. This font is one of the few fonts that support the Greek alphabet, therefore it is an excellent fit for this typography design. There is also the addition of “Upsilon Omega” at the bottom to represent the DSP chapter’s name of Stony Brook, and they are evenly spaced between the main letters on top.
Fonts:
As mentioned, the font of Consolas (Sans Serif) was chosen because of its sharp and bold characters. It conveys the power and status of the organization because Delta Sigma Pi is an organization that should be portrayed as trustworthy, powerful, and elite. This font is one of the few fonts that support the Greek alphabet, therefore it is an excellent fit for this typography design. While the secondary font will be Century Gothic because its thin characters and its sharp edges will be a great fit for the body of the website, and a great complement to the bolder Consolas so that people can easily see the clear distinction when reading. Both have been set to a set kerning and alignment so that the spacing between each character can be seen.
Alternative Designs:
There are also several alternative designs on where the representation of New York should be, but overall the one blending it with the typography will be the best of all.
