Typography

Modified Version:

For the modified version, I darkened the colors so that it was more professional. Into order to stick with the color scheme, I chose one of the colors used in my logo (other than black or light blue). I chose the dark blue because the green, similar to the light blue previously used, was a bit too bright. Furthermore, the green would look a bit out of place with the brand because compared to the other colors, green isn’t the color that stands out as much as blue in the logo. I kept the rest of the design colors the same as to not make the typography too busy. As an added bonus, black is also a major color in the logo.

Rationale:

For my typography, I decided for a more simplistic approach as to not make it too busy. Similar to my logo, since my intended target audience is for hiring managers in Computer Science/Programming fields, I decided to incorporate some sort of technological element. I chose a simple font, OCR A Extended, which is a monospaced sans-serif font. Furthermore, this font is very similar to codes displayed in text-books, further incorporating a technological feel. Next, I wanted to have a connection between this typography and my previously designed logo. The color that stands out the most in my logo is the bright, electric blue. So, similar to my logo, I highlighted my initials with this color. In addition, I completed the J in my logo with additional digital lines. Since the J in OCR A Extended doesn’t have the line on top, I changed the font a little by adding digital lines to it, connecting with the dot in each of the i’s in my name.

Type Sample:

Display Font:

OCR A Extended Bold is the font that should be used for headlines or display typography. When colored, the first letter of each major word of the display typography should be in brand colors. The digital lines should also be incorporated into the typography. When used in headlines, the lines are not necessary.

Alternative Fonts:

Alternative fonts can be used if the primary and secondary fonts are not available.
