Game UI

The below three screens represent my game UI. The first is a title screen with the name of the game “The Math Escape”. This is intended for younger students in the age ranges of around 5-14, thus the character choices the user is presented with are of younger people to be more relatable. Then, the user has an option of choosing a difficulty and then finally being able to press play.

The second screen is meant to be from within the game while the user is playing. The player will be running and be presented with pillars as obstacles to the user, and in order to jump over them the user will have to put the right answer to the math equation that is presented on top of the pillar. For each question, the time left to answer will be displayed in the top right and reset each time the user gets a question right or wrong. The amount of lives is presented in the top right, where the user starts with 3 and loses a life each time they get a question wrong. And finally, the score will be displayed under the lives left bar, with the score going up more and more as the user gets a question right.

The third screen is a game over screen, shown after the user runs out of lives. It will display the total score the user amassed over one session and ranks the performance of the user based on the difficulty chosen. The aim of this is to encourage players to not only score as high as they can, but also do better and better each time within one difficulty so that the act of learning harder math problems will also be encouraged, adhering to the principle of gamification.
