RATIONALE
The United Health Pharmacy has a patient base that consists of individuals of all ages, however, the majority of the patients are older folks, which is an important factor in my decision to select Helvetica-Neue as the heading font.
Helvetica-Neue is deemed as one of the easiest fonts to read, most likely due to the fact that it is a sans-serif typeface, widely known for its readability across a broad range of screens due to its simplicity. As the saying goes, “Sometimes, less is more.” As individuals grow old, their eyes become weaker, and it is the mission of the United Health Pharmacy to address the needs of their community such as by ensuring that their web application has one of the most legible fonts so that their patients can read with ease and minimal eye strain. Another appealing factor of the Helvetica-Neue font is its roundness which conveys the feelings of community and comfort that the United Health Pharmacy strives to inspire in their patients.
For the subheading, I selected the Avenir font because its similarity to the Helvetica-Neue font serves as a smooth transition from the heading to the subheading. Now, you may be expecting another sans-serif font. However, for the body, we have the Georgia font, which is a serif typeface. Its angled terminals make it classy and elegant, a striking contrast to the simple yet modern sans-serif fonts, but there is an inexplicable beauty in this juxtaposition. Even though Georgia is a serif font, it is deemed as one of the few serif fonts that are easy to read. The fonts chosen are not only visually appealing but also function as very legible fonts for those who may have visual difficulties.
As for the logotype, the many color versions consist of variations of the colors yellow and green, as a way to incite optimism and serenity in patients when they receive care from the pharmacy. In between the words “Health” and “Pharmacy,” there is a golden cardiogram to indicate the happy and healthy life that the United Health Pharmacy promotes for their patients. There is also the minimized version of the logo in place of the tittle in the word “United” as a way to make the logotype appear more personable, like the welcoming community of healthcare providers at the United Health Pharmacy.
