Back Story: Born and raised entirely in New York as a hispanic woman knowing both English and Spanish, I am from the Bronx and have 2 children. I went to school here at Stony Brook University and got my masters in higher education. I love working with others and helping other people, so I decided to work for the EOP administration starting over 20 years ago, and I’m still here with them! It’s great seeing generations of underprivileged students go to school and graduate to live successful lives, and I love being the one to help push them forward. EOP does so much for these students, such as offering scholarships, tutoring services, and so much more. One of my children was born with autism; he’s 8 years old and a very bright child and inspires me even more to do what I do for others.
Motivations: As a very busy person, I need a good and easy way to organize and manage my time so I can know what I have to do for the day, week, and even month. This also includes any of my actual work, such as assigning tutors, assigning students to tutors, making schedules, etc. Keeping track of who goes where, who does what, and much more will likely keep me up to date to avoid conflict.
Frustrations: Apps and services like Google Calendar and Excel do a good job of managing my work, but doesn’t really notify me of any changes instantly, and the interface isn’t exactly my favorite as it can get confusing to navigate through.
Ideal Experience: In an app or service, I’d like to see a timeline of what needs to be completed, constant reminders, and a feature where I can interact with other people I’m working with in the same app/service. If the interface could be edited in terms of color coding, how important something is, and just overall, that’d be great as well. I’d also like to see users being able to have some type of profile for better interactions.
