Logotype Justification

I included both Serif and Sans Serif in my logotype. The larger and more eye catching ‘KBS’ of the logo uses Serif (Brush ATF) because I wanted it to look more like the traditional brush type of writing. This ties back into the Korean cultural aspect of the club. It also gives a more flowing and creative feel that is found in dancing. The smaller ‘DANCE TEAM’ uses Sans Serif (Microsoft PhagsPa) for both contrast, and a more modern look. Kpop, the main genre of dance within the club, is forward moving and innovative. I wanted to convey this aspect in the logo as well. I believe the contrast in style also makes the logo more eye catching. Finally, I included the mark I had made in the previous assignment. I tried my best to balance the logo and typography. The irregular shape of the mark made it a somewhat difficult task. I decided to only use black for the logo as I wanted it to have a more modern feel. I felt that too many colors would make the logotype feel cluttered and less cohesive.

Type Sampler

Type Sampler Justification

For the headings and subheading, I chose the font family ‘Mrs Eaves.’ I chose this font because of its simplistic and modern look. It is easy to read and eye catching but is toned down. I kept the font simplistic because I want more focus to be placed on the content itself. I think the simplicity also gives off a more inviting atmosphere, something that the club is aiming to convey. For paragraph, I chose ‘Hero New.’ I chose this font because I wanted to keep the theme of simple but welcoming. I think the rounded letters of this font give off a softer and more inviting feel. It is easy to read and elegant looking. I believe both these fonts will properly frame the content of the club.
