Design Brief

Persona

Location:
NYC Metropolitan Area, primarily Brooklyn.

Stakeholders, Staff & Administration:
As of now, this is a small local business, there are no stakeholders. There are no full-time staff, no one is kept on contract, only freelancers are hired when their talent is needed. Therefore, there is also no administration, all contact and information is directly with the contractor.

Age Range, Job Titles, and Demographic Information:
The age range is usually 35 – 70. There’s no specific racial demographic or occupation that we’re looking for in our clients. We’re mostly looking for middle-class homeowners and landlords. In some cases, someone will want their apartment/condo to be customized/renovated, with permission from their landlord or homeowner’s association, they can use our services.

Technical Comfort:
Most of our clients would prefer things done more traditionally and with less use of technology throughout the process. This business is all on-site work, so face-to-face meetings, and phone calls are preferred due to the swiftness and clarity with these forms of communication as opposed to slower forms of communication, especially where detail is lost in communication. The most they would look for in a website is examples of our work and contact information. Everything else from then on would be face-to-face, hand-signed paper contracts, phone calls and occasionally emails.

Backstory and Motivations:
There are several reasons someone would want to use our services. They could be new homeowners who wants to renovate the home they just bought. They could be previous homeowners who need something repaired or fixed, renovated or modernized, something new built on their property or they want to touch it up their property they can sell it for a higher price.

Frustrations:
Potential clients are usually frustrated with bad service, bad communication, confusion about the job, and unreasonable prices from competitors. Another common frustration is when they had repair done which wasn’t done correctly so they need it fixed again, which just adds more inconvenience and frustration.

Ideal Experience:
The ideal experience is to have everything go smoothly, with good communication, everything explained properly to the client. The job being done professionally, well, in a timely manner, with a reasonable price, and the property left clean after completion. The clients also appreciate a warranty on the job so that if anything goes wrong with our work in a certain time period, we will address their concerns in a timely manner with no additional cost.
