For the iconography assignment I chose to continue developing for a basketball reference website. I picked the 4 most useful icons/actions to design. The aim was to make simple yet easily recognizable icons that could be used instead of the word for devices with a smaller screen size. I developed an icon for “Home”, “Players”, “Teams”, and “Scores”. I used the same base design for both the player and teams since I wanted to have continuity between the icons. The teams icon is supposed to resemble 4 players in a huddle from a “bottom-up” angle. I tried to have a 1:1 ration between negative and positive space but I fall short on that goal in the scores icon. However I stand by my design choice for the scoreboard because it scales very well and still gets the point across to users. Unfortunately since I used a custom font the web browser does not have the font that I used. I also could not export to png from inkscape for some reason so instead I just screenshotted and cropped the icon. The home icon is a simple house, I figured it got the point across although it does not necessarily match the basketball theme. The files included are all svg files created in inkscape which means they scale perfectly and can be converted into a web font in the future.
