The game I wanted to base these assignments on was an RPG similar to others but also in the style of games like Terraria. Most of this game will be taking place inside caves, with a selection of characters (only one shown here). Each of these character classes will have different abilities and weapons that they can use and will have different skill trees that they can develop to learn new skills. I also decided I wanted to go for a 2d design aesthetic as I thought it would stand out more and be unique compared to other projects, and I also really like 2d pixel based graphics.
The levels will be laid out as follows:
Each “level” will be it’s own zone or area, with multiple mini bosses and a main boss for each area.
Each zone will be distinct from other zones in both enemy type and aesthetics.
Enemies will spawn psudo randomly throughout each zone, with randomized stats and item drops. Psudo random in the sense that there will be specific spawn zones, but the enemies that spawn there will be random from a set pool of spawnable enemies.
There will also be towns within each zone, with merchants and npcs that the player can interact with.
