Rationale
My biggest priority was to incorporate my name, but I wanted it to be subtle, so I chose not to use text. Instead, I shaped the curvature of the paint on the brushes to be an “S” and a “Z”, to create my initials. The first design was inspired by the idea of “rising up” ; the art that I create is digital, and some people have the misconception that “digital” art is limited when compared to conventional art (I want to “rise up” against that notion). Both icons are heavily curved because that matches the stylized look of the work in my portfolio. For the palette, I chose purple as the predominant color because it’s associated with distinctness, and might help to make the icon more memorable. I used blue because it pairs well with purple, and helps to “tone down” the image. Green was used for the color of the arm, as it’s associated with creativity, and the color has a nice contrast with the purple. The color choice for the brushes was done to help make them more recognizable as paintbrushes (rather than color theory).
