Project Proposal: The Colorful Temple – Meenakshi Temple

Title: The Colorful Temple – Meenakshi Temple

Synopsis: The animation starts with a wide view of the Meenakshi Temple complex in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India. Then a tour of the temple will be given with close up shots of the colorful statues that make up the tall structures known as gopuras. The style of dravidian architecture commonly used in India to construct temples is explained. After showing the outside, the camera goes through the northeast entrance of the temple which is the Thousand Pillar Hall talking more about the design of the pillars. The last view is further inside to the altar of the temple with the statue/idol of the Goddess Meenkashi.

Objective: To use animation to create a 3d model of the temple to demonstrate the dravidian architecture and history of the temple. The audio and music will provide some background information such as identifying what structures make up the temple(gopuras, pillars, materials used like stone). Text on the screen will give the dimensions/measurements of the outside and inside of the temple.

Target Audience: Older teens and adults interested in Indian culture
