Title: Zoomed Out
Brief Synopsis: Since the pandemic started more than a year ago, most people have been staying at home indoors or at least limiting their time spent outside with friends and family. With all of our interactions becoming virtual, our days tend to blur together after staring at a computer screen. Specifically, there has been a great impact on school children who can feel all the more isolated from their peers. This project is meant to reflect the need to escape from this monotonous life in the pandemic and to reconnect with what can be found outside one’s bedroom.
Objective: To use graphics, video, and animation to reflect the need to escape from this monotonous life in the pandemic and to reconnect with what can be found outside one’s bedroom. A mostly empty room depicting a school girl will be created in Blender. The scene will transform slowly adding more natural elements like flowers, vines, and small static creatures to depict the concept of revitalization. This project is inspired by the children’s book, Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak.
Target Audience: The main audience would be school children who’ve experienced screen burnout and other mental health issues during the pandemic. However, the message from this project can also connect with anyone who’s primarily living their life, whether it be for work or school, all indoors.
