Project Proposal

Title: “Computer in Parts”

Synopsis: Computers have become much smaller in recent years, and people never really know what physical components are at play when they use a computer. Computers have many parts that make up its structure and all of them are necessary in order to make a computer run and have all the uses we see today. It is harder and harder to show what kind of components go into computers as they get smaller and as laptops become even more popularized. Knowing what the technology looks like that goes behind such a powerful tool that we use every day of our lives, can reinforce the understanding of how a computer works.

Objective: To use animation to display how a computer is built and showcase the different components that combine to make a computer what it is. 3D modeled Parts that will be displayed in the animation include the motherboard, RAM or memory, storage drive particularly a hard drive, Central Processing Unit (CPU) with heat sink, graphics card, and power supply. A monitor will also be connected to show the difference between the purpose of the computer and of the monitor.

Audience: High school to graduate level students interested in building computers or structure of computer hardware.
