My self portrait features a reflection of me and a cat on a glass window. Beyond the glass, is a painted fantasy landscape. This image represents my various interests and hobbies. The view beyond the window is a photo of an actual piece that I painted. Art has always been a fun, relaxing activity for me, and I always feel a sense of accomplishment when I finish a painting. Then, on the left, is the reflection of me taking a picture. I have just recently purchased a DSLR camera and enjoy trying out different camera effects and compositions. Finally, on the right, is reflection of a beautiful white cat that I took a photo of from a cat cafe. I included this cat in my self portrait because I love cats and have always wanted one.
For the design, I applied a Photoshop glass filter on the base layer (painting) and blended two glass texture images by changing their opacity. Then, I added myself and the cat with a glass filter, created multiple copies of the subjects, and used the blur tool, all in an attempt to replicate the distortion of a glass reflection. Finally, to complement the painterly look of the painting, I also applied an artistic brush stroke filter to myself and the cat.
