334 Term Project Proposal

Title:

“Hug”

Synopsis:
This animation follows two magnet characters who would like to give each other a hug. The front of the characters would be red, representing the north pole and the back of the characters would be blue, representing the south pole. They would attempt to approach each other using their red sides first and would be repelled (similar poles repel). They would then flip over, try again with their blue sides, and get repelled again. Finally, only one of them flips over, and their blue and red sides get pulled together in a warm embrace (opposite poles attract).
Objective

To use cute characters and a simple storyline to engage and teach young kids about dipole magnets and how they work.

Audience:

This is targeted toward elementary and middle school students, approximately around the ages of 5-13. It provides an easy to understand and fun visual explanation to how dipole magnets work. Opposite poles attract and similar poles repel.
