About Me
Surrealistic Self-portraitÂ
Hello – my name is Mendy.
This piece is a juxtaposition of four images – the background is a picture I took at Roth pond and the other three are pictures of myself. Besides some basic filters like brightening up the image, I also added some bloom to the top right to serve as a illusion of sunshine. The main focus of the image is the arrangement of the three images of myself to make it look like I am using the mushrooms as steps. This is to make the piece give more of a “small fish in a big pond” feeling, as the world appears much bigger due to my smaller size. There are times when we feel extremely insignificant in a world so big, but we make the effort to climb and work towards something, to witness some sort of euphoria or goal, regardless of the odds against us. This self-portrait is to illustrate that feeling.
The portraits are made using masking techniques to take out the background, and then I resized the image to make it look as if I am going a great distance as I get higher and further to the pond.
