Title: “The Blacksmith”

Synopsis: A blacksmith is a person who forges a variety of objects such as tools, weapons, and armors. While blacksmiths were prevalent for hundreds if not thousands of years, it has declined to a very small amount of people. Therefore, blacksmithing is slowly being forgotten as an art.

Before a blacksmith begins to forge, they must have the essential toolset that consists of a forge, anvil, blacksmith hammer, a vise, and a set of blacksmithing tongs. The process of blacksmithing consists of heating, holding, hitting, and shaping. A simple looking piece of metal is heated and manipulated using these tools and processes to craft a sturdy and quality object. While modern machinery can expedite this process without the use of blacksmiths, the art of blacksmithing should not be forgotten.

Objective: To use animation to showcase the blacksmithing process beginning from the raw metal to the end product. In our case, we will show the creation of a longsword. Audio will consist of background music and forging sound effects. There will be 3D models created of the tools and materials used during the process.

Audience: The audience for this animation is anyone who is interested in the art of blacksmithing and how swords are forged.
