self portrait:
I think that a large part of people’s personalities now are composed of multiple things including who they project online, and how they feel other people see them. In this way people have more than one version of themselves in which they selectively divide who they are.
For my self portrait I wanted to try a few different concepts that highlighted interests of mine and still reflected my sense of style and aesthetic without becoming too crowded or comical looking. I like dealing with colorful subjects and balancing those bright colors with dark shadows to farther emphasize them and make them pop.
I didnt want to go too crazy with special effects because I think that making the reality too distorted makes the image look fake so I wanted to go with a portrayal of fantasy that was realistic enough to look like it belonged in the image but still be able to insert myself somewhere I originally wasn’t.
