Title:
“Cherry Blossom Season in Japan”
Synopsis:
Being able to travel and explore the world is the dream of many, myself included. Especially during this pandemic era, many are longing to travel even more. Thus, this project hopes to replicate this traveling experience by re-creating several cool scenery and architecture from Japan.
One of the reference points for this project is the Ujigawa Haryu Canal in Kyoto, Japan – The canal was originally used to transport materials and make sake. The canal is especially scenic during cherry blossom season and also symbolizes Japanese culture. Furthermore, Kyoto is home to over 400 shrines, with some even named by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. This is significant as it highlights Kyoto as a hub for culture and religion.
Objective:
To use graphics (photographs and paintings), video, and animation to recreate the peaceful experience of traveling through Japan. Serene background music will also be played to add to the tranquil mood. A 3D model, from the perspective of someone sitting on the boat passing by the canal, looking at the beautiful scenery during sunset. I really hope to be able to add my own twist to this beautiful scenery and create a peaceful final product that also encapsulates Japanese culture.
Audience:
It’s anticipated that the audience for this piece would be high school and undergraduate students who dream of traveling and are interested in the beautiful scenery of Japan.
