Identification:
The program will be used to help Stony Brook University visitors navigate through Stony Brook University to help guide them to the art galleries or art pieces they are interested in looking at.
Primary Actor:
The primary external actor that would interact with the system would be visitors on the Stony Brook University Campus that are interested in the pieces of art the campus has to offer.
Stakeholders and Interests:
Stony Brook University Management Staff: These stakeholders would like to uphold the reputation of Stony Brook University and make visitors feel welcomed and the application will help them achieve this by making it easier for people visiting the campus for the art on campus to get to where they want to be.
Stony Brook University Gallery Directors: These stakeholders would like to show off the art pieces they have available and make the experience of visiting their gallery easier and more enjoyable, the program will help them with this by making visitors that come to Stony Brook University have an easier time getting to the galleries they are looking for. This also allows the gallery directors to show off any events that are coming up and raise awareness for these events.
Stony Brook University Visitors: These stakeholders would be interested in seeing and exploring all the art that Stony Brook University has to offer and the program will help them with this by giving visitors an idea of where art galleries and pieces are located so they have an easier time finding what they are looking for. This also allows visitors to have an easier time finding the events that interest them and get the time and place these events occur.
Preconditions:
The program will use the Stony Brook Zuccaire Gallery to direct them to the website that hosts the interactive map so that Stony Brook University visitors can find the map easily. Any events and sample art pieces will be managed and updated by gallery directors.
Postconditions:
When the program is developed and accessible on the Stony Brook University art gallery’s website, it will be able to help visitors easily find their way to different art pieces on campus and give them a brief overview of the pieces and events each gallery has to offer.
Main Success Scenario:
When the program is complete, we hope that it is accessible through Stony Brook University’s art gallery website and if users want to visit, they can go to the website, click the link to the interactive map, and look at the art galleries’ art pieces and events that are on campus. They would then be able to click and get an overview of what each gallery has to offer and get an idea of where on campus the gallery is.
User visits art gallery website.
User clicks in the link to open interactive campus map.
User clicks on a marker they are interested in visiting.
Marker displays all the information for that gallery such as sample art pieces and events.
User gets a general idea of how to get to the marker.
Extensions and Alternative Flows:
The possible errors that can occur is that the website is not functional leading to the interactive map to not be reachable, the pathing offered by the program may also not be up to date since there can be future adjustments to campus that the map does not account for.
Open Issues:
Pathing implementation can be difficult depending on the requirements since we are not using google maps. Events and art pieces need to be managed by the art gallery directors or else they will go out of date.
