The MakerBot Replicator 2 uses MakerBot PLA Filament–a renewable bioplastic,  for fused deposition modeling.
The material is suitable for moving parts and complex assemblies. It is super strong with minimal shrinkage to avoid cracks. The PLA Filament comes in a range of shimmery, metallic, translucent, matte and sparkly colors.

Limitations

-frail structures like large thin wiry pieces
