Out of half of the patients with ACLF who are awaiting a liver transplant, only 10% to 25% receive it, while 50% to 75% die in wait (Shah et al., 2021).
The estimated mortality rate in patients with ACLF has decreased from 65% in 2001 to 50% in 2011 (Shah et al., 2021).
An estimated 40% to 50% of patients are labeled as having an unrecognized precipitating event culminating in ACLF (Shah et al., 2021).
