In looking at Taiwan and its history, it can be seen there are many languages such as Mandarin Chinese, other Chinese dialects (such as Hakka and Southern Min) and other native languages that have some part in Taiwan’s linguistic landscape.
In looking at these various languages and their influence on Taiwan as a whole, we hope not only to raise awareness of Taiwan’s linguistic diversity but also to illustrate that the usage of these various languages in Taiwan has had and, will continue to shape, the country as a whole.
