Design

Accelerate the Achilles tendon healing time (compared to 4-month recovery timeline from surgery)

  • Patients will be immobilized and in need of wearing a cast for 6 to 12 weeks

  • Long term rehabilitation

  • Current surgery treatment is greatly time-consuming

Degradable (Artificial tendon must be able to degrade and allow native cells to regenerate)

  • Current artificial tendons have poor biodegradability

  • Secondary surgery may be needed to remove the implant

  • Another surgery brings about another round of surgical risks.
