Final Project Proposal – “3 by 20”

Project Title: “3 by 20”

Description:

Make a total of 9 photos in which 3 pictures are taken: one of the landscape or environment, one of the clothing or main focus piece and lastly one of a person wearing the clothing in the environment. 3-photo series has recently been a trend amongst street-wear photographers who capture not just clothing but environments as well, both environment and clothing depending on each other. Clothing and environments will all be different, all representing different feelings and moods; each mood being something important to those in their 20s. Not all clothing will be captured in a photo, more so the defining pieces or “essentials” of the outfit. The project will demonstrate my ability to excel not only the photography I am comfortable with (portraits), but also photography I do for professional work (fashion/clothing photography) and photography I do not practice often (landscape).

Outcomes:

  • 9 pictures total, 3 in a series, 3 series
  • Most likely 2 female, 2 male models
  • 8 x 10 ratio images
  • Some in New York City, some at Stony Brook University and surrounding areas
  • Similar feel and aesthetic of David Sims, Silas Lee and Jonnelle Monzon

Methods and Materials:

  • Photoshop
  • Strobe lighting
  • Soft boxes
  • Light meter
  • Printer for displayed pieces
