I was really excited about this project as abstract and unsettling photos are my style of photography and I knew I had plenty of images lying around waiting to be seen. For the first message photo, I wanted to bring awareness to the amount of waste caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. I was cleaning out my car on an early morning and that’s the number of disposable masks my partner and I have used in maybe a few months. The streak of green in the photo is from the shadow cast by the seat of my car and the way the rising sun hits my window. For the second and third photo, I went with abstraction for obvious reasons. The first is achieved with a glass cup and a freezer bag courtesy of my HelloFresh order. I was able to use my wide-angle lens for an extra bit of distortion. The last is from when I first started photography some of my friends and I were playing around in the woods taking photos. I happened to capture gold with the built-in filter on the cannon camera I own. I was amazed at how ghostly a figure my friend became with the contrast of his black clothes, nail paint, and the darkness of the night.

  1. I really like your photo that the masks shows the massage of the Covid-19.I was deeply shocked and really felt this information. The accumulation of so many disposable masks also reminds me of massages related to environmental pollution.

  2. I definitely relate to the first photo. With the Covid-19 pandemic, our masks go with us anywhere when leaving our homes. I have gone through so many masks already, and I should have tried using less than I have to avoid future waste.
