Research the Science of Sleep (article/web/blog/video/image)
I found this article in regards to the science of sleep. It talked about our internal clocks within the normal 24 hour cycle, which is known as our circadian rhythm, and how the most important chemical is melatonin. The process of interpreting light, starts in our retina, when it gets exposed to light, it sends a signal to an area of the brain that can make us either feel wide awake or drowsy. Melatonin production depends on SNAT activity, during the morning, SNAT is degraded which means melatonin production decreases. Light travels from the retina to the suprachiasmatic nucleus and then to the pineal gland, resulting in the degradation of SNAT.
Research artists/poets/writers/performers who explore sleep in their work?
I came across a video where a guy named Lee Hadwin who has been scribbling in his sleep since he was a child. He has a sleepwalking disorder where he has no memory of creating artworks in the morning. Click on the link below to watch about his disorder.
