Album Cover
Overspeed Youths: Empathy, Frauds and Imaginary
Amber Li, 2021
9.84 * 4.72 inches
Artist Statement:
This album, Overspeed Youths: Empathy, Frauds and Imaginary Troops, is created by a Chinese band,
Fancy Wall. The lyrics show a class of women who are driven by their desire to be beautiful. It also
dovetails with the core of Grunge Rock- a protest against the increasingly empty soul of rock and roll
behind its increasingly opulent exterior.
The skyline of Lujiazui is shown in lettering. The lower part is the reflection of the building on the water.
It looks very faint. People don’t have any idea what they are chasing for. They don’t think about what
they really need, and are content with the superficial and the transient pleasures.
I use the silhouette of a beautiful woman. Using a money icon in the woman’s brain to represent it.
These kinds of people only have empty souls inside.
As for the color, I choose to use orange and blue as the dominant tone. It creates a high contrast
between each other. I also add a textured piece combined with the blue background, to give a messy
feeling to this cover.
The label at the left corner of the front cover is Parental Advisory Label. It is placed on audio recordings
when profanity or inappropriate allusions are detected, with the goal of alerting parents to material that
may be inappropriate for children. It is because there are some “special words” in the lyrics, so I put this
label here.

Environmental Justice
no group of people should bear disproportionate share of the negative environmental
consequences,2021

Artist’s Statement:
For this theme of environmental justice, my idea is to combine Central Park and the
landfill because this is the center of Manhattan and also the most unlikely location for a
landfill. I hope this poster can remind those who ignore the environmental pollution they
cause to others. What if environmental hazards were all around you, affecting your life
and health? Would people still be generating unnecessary garbage at will?
I have tried many ways to combine the landfill and the central park, trying to make a
strong contrast. The final choice was to fill the lake in the park with trash. From the
bird’s view it is clear to see that this is New York City, and the neat vertical lines create
a sense of beauty. I can only choose to express it in short words because the
background is too complicated. White and simple font is the best choice. When factory
exhaust fumes will end up in the air people breathe. When wastewater containing
harmful substances affects people’s drinking water. When landfills produce odors that
are simply impossible to ignore when they are right around people’s homes. Before
creating unnecessary garbage, I hope people who live in the city can think about where
all the garbage goes. Don’t waste it freely just because it doesn’t affect you.

Postcards
Non-existent Stony Brook, 2021
4*6 inches each
Artist Statement:
For this project, I made 6 postcards with the theme of Stony Brook. Using repeated
views to amplify the beauty of the school and show the charm that cannot just be seen
with the human eye. I transform the distinctive buildings on campus into repetitive looks
with a geometric aesthetic using photoshop.
I chose buildings with special features, such as a Chinese bridge in the wang center, the
zodiac animal heads, the glass bridge in the Simon Center, the Staller Step, the Mobius
strip and a corner of the Westside dining. These are the buildings around us that we
maybe familiar within our daily lives, and it is interesting to make them different through
artistic manipulation.
Final Project
I’m going to take seven photographs of the seven deadly sins: pride, greed, wrath, envy, lust, gluttony and sloth, which are all seven human behaviours, so I won’t be showing the faces of the model. I will use the model’s hands, eyes or the other part of the body in different ways.I will have some props to go with each scene, such as cash, food, etc.
I chose the seven deadly sins because everyone has some of these seven personalities in one way or another. It was only when I realised this that I started to look at myself squarely. Learning to accept my shortcomings.

Project 3 Narrative – Storytelling
The name of my work is Last Chance. The story is about a man who is gambling, but he has no more money in his wallet. The man’s opponent had placed many bets. There was no longer any chance that he could fail. Fortunately for him, the last two cards in his hand were both jokers and he won in the end.
