In this project, I plan to take portraits of individuals working at the Stony Brook research center in Madagascar (Centre Valbio) as well as the wildlife being studied by them. Each portrait will be accompanied by a vignette. I will sit my human subjects down and have a six question interview where I ask my subject what spot they prefer in the centre or choose a location pertinent to them or their studies, and then photograph them during the interview to get a sincere portrait of them speaking about their passions. The animal subjects will be photographed in the wild and the vignette accompanying them will name the animal species and describe the individuals that appear in the portrait. When I return from Madagascar, I will compile all the portraits into a book, giving each portrait-and-vignette pair a page.
