My vision of the future features a greater effort to live harmoniously with nature. Humans and animals have both inhabited the earth for thousands of years, yet the relationship between the two have been competitive rather than symbiotic. Civilizations destroy natural habitats in order to expand itself yet the critters that make an effort to reclaim or adapt to their new environment are seen as pests. I believe that the Earth is home to every creature to exist on it and therefore no one species should have the right to take away the homes of another. One solution to this would be to modify the architecture we currently use for our homes to accommodate other species that also live in said environment.

My three iterations display three possible ways this type of architecture can be implemented. In suburban areas where trees serve as a crucial element in many organisms’ homes, houses can be modified to be able to intertwine trees and bushes into their structure. The growth of trees on the exterior of these houses can house small woodland creatures and provide food for any that live there. Urban areas where wild animals are few are best suited to house avian creatures. One such example is bees, which are currently in the state of being endangered. A safe environment high up within the balcony of a city apartment provide an environment where they can be far from predators and the use of pesticides. More rural areas may not be threatened as much by human population as suburban and urban areas, however, there is still a risk of disturbing marine habitats. Often times large properties destroy rivers and ponds in order to construct on that land and at the same time destroy homes and crucial migration paths. One way to get around this is to specifically construct paths through constructed homes to allow fish and other marine organisms through as to not impede on their natural habits.
