Research Experience

As a graduate student I work in Dr. Richard Clark’s lab focusing on burn heals. Our lab is attempted to change the method of burn debridement. I have taken part in a pilot study and hope to further clarify the protocol that will be used on burn patients in the future.

As an undergraduate, I worked with Dr. Balaji Sitharaman on several projects. I worked on understanding the toxicology of manganese nano particles because Dr. Sitharaman’s lab was introducing a new MRI contrast agent using manganese and dextran. I was particularly interested in how manganese nano particles exited the body and if they crossed the blood brain barrier. I also worked on a project to develop a polymer scaffold saturated with molecules and nano particles to stimulate osteoinductive bone growth.
