This is a research report from Science Journal which is the first direct observation of forming engram cells to store memories in our brain.
It was widely believed that the synapses stores memories and information that is formed when neurons are being connected. The group of researchers at Seoul National University of South Korea have conducted research using fluorescent proteins to make observations of where synapses are formed. They used dual-eGRASP (green fluorescent protein reconstitution across synaptic partners) technique to confirm the synapse formation and they were able to spot the process. They used mice for the research. Since synapse forming reactions are most strong when it’s under fearful or shocking situations, they used the fear aspect to observe the formation.
