Time of Day

Time of Day – Project 1

A collection of photos taken from the start of the day until the end. Over the course of a few days, I traveled to different locations including Avalon State Park, Jones Beach, Hecksher Park, and Stony Brook University. I observed the light shift as the time of day changed and depending on what perspective you capture the photograph in, the shadows change as well. I mainly utilized the manual priority and aperture priority settings on my camera, in order to have more flexibility over the photographs I took; and to blur the backgrounds in order to focus on a particular subject. My favorite times of the day to photograph were at the sunrise at the very early morning and mid-afternoon because the light was at it’s highest intensity when first rising for the day, and towards the end of the day, it was a soft and subtle glow. The days I photographed were mainly sunny or partly cloudy, so the sky was still clear and bright, with little clouds present. I appreciate these photographs for the beauty of transition that occurs and the way the light can change every surrounding.
