An application that will translate speech input to American Sign Language via 3D visualization of hand gestures. This application will help aid those who wish to communicate in ASL, whether it be with a loved one, a stranger, or any other situation. Our main goal is to aid in translation, however, we see this application being able to be extended for educational purposes. We hope to bridge the gap between deaf persons (speakers of ASL) and non speakers. While traditional translators exist and are easily accessible online now, such as google translate, these mostly work as text to text translations and do not offer an ASL option. Since the ASL language depends mostly on hand gestures, it is primarily visual. Therefore, we believe it is important to visually show this via 3D animation.
