Stony Brook University, NY

Ph. D. Research Assistant – Gabor Balazsi Lab | August 2024 – Present

  •  Developing optimized gene circuits using Recombinase-Mediated Cassette Exchange (RMCE) with
mutated FRT sites, increasing recombination specificity for reliable site-specific modifications while
    minimizing off-target effects.

Graduate Student Coordinator for Undergraduate Academic Success – (ASTC) | August 2024 – Present

  • Supervising a team of Peer-Assisted Learning (PAL) tutors, ensuring effective delivery of academic support services.
  • Organizing training sessions, monitoring progress, and fostering a collaborative and productive tutoring environment.
  • Managing administrative tasks and contributing to the development of new tutoring strategies to enhance student engagement and success.

Road and Transportation Authority, Mayagüez P.R.

Undergraduate Intern | April – June 2024

  • Supported engineers in highway construction tasks, including paperwork, liquidations, and digitalization.
  • Collaborated with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project milestones were achieved on time.
  • Contributed to community infrastructure improvements through public service initiatives.
  • Applied problem-solving skills to address challenges during construction activities.

University of Wisconsin-Madison, WI

Undergraduate Researcher – Informatics Skunkworks Program | September – December 2023

  • Employed machine learning techniques to predict material properties without the need for its synthesis.
  • Reconstructed all materials in the test data and generated new material structures by sampling from the
latent space and minimizing the trained property in the latent space.
  • Handled three datasets with distinct material distributions: perovskites of similar structure but different
compositions, carbon-based materials with diverse structures, and materials varying in both structure and
    composition.

Brookhaven National Laboratory, NY

Summer Undergraduate Laboratory Intern | June – August 2023

  • Expressed, purified, and crystallized two helix-loop-helix transcription factors (1T and 6T) from Populus trichocarpa to study their role in sustainable biomass production.
  • Accomplishments: Successfully obtained TF6T protein crystals for structural analysis.
  • Presented findings through posters and oral presentations to scientists and faculty.

University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez

OncoImmunotherapy Edition Participant  – Amgen BioTalents | March 2023

  • Cloned, expressed, and purified dihydrofolate reductase, a target for cancer chemotherapy.
  • Gained insights into biomanufacturing and oncoimmunotherapy concepts.

Quantitative Frameworks in Biological Systems Course  | January  – May 2023

  • Studied fundamental biology concepts from an engineering perspective. Topics covered encompassed
biological functions, cell components, DNA structure, protein function, genetic diversity, and ecosystems.
  • Presented project titled ‘Quantitative Study of Extracellular Vesicles Diffusion on Cell Membrane,’ which
explained the significance of this diffusion and potential applications in medicine, biology, and
    biotechnology.
  • Developed simulation using cell blender software to explain concepts.

Math and Chemistry Tutor  | July 2021 – July 2022

  • Tutored introductory math, general chemistry, and precalculus to high school and undergraduate students.
