Self Portraits

Portraiture

I decided to create self-portraits for this project. I approached this project through interest in objects and places in my family’s house. Since childhood I have clung to sentimental objects and symbols and have collected souvenirs of people or places in my life. I wanted to capture these things like a “show and tell” as well as observe similar habits among my family members in the house and their habits in general. I was struck by the way that my parents or siblings would leave traces of themselves through their belongings, and intended to blur or conceal these images. I felt more creative if I made something blurry or abstract.
