Animation

Welcome to a lush alien environment where everything grows and time is different. Where two beings curiously transform their physical, emotional, and intellectual forms. Inspired by the regenerative magic of humans and nature, this work explores how animation can represent a fantastical and personal narrative.

Bee is concerned with how sexuality and gender is defined and regulated through social norms and various means. This project stemmed from two branches of research, the first being internal reflection consisting of journaling their life and drawing their surroundings. Secondly external research consisted of learning about how queer people define and think about ending sexual violence and the issues that surround it.

Bee invites you on an intimate journey to discover the impact of a relationship on the characters’ consciousness and overall being and reflect on your own experiences of impactful relationships. What a whirlwind it is to be with someone else.

Bee approaches the animation process by storyboarding and character design. This work is 24 frame-per-second animation digitally hand drawn using a drawing tablet in Photoshop.
