My final project with include holographically projected user interfaces within the world of the photographs. I wanted to nail down the aesthetics of these UIs, and I easily managed to find inspiration within some recently released video games that I have a soft spot for. Above is a screenshot from NieR: Automata, and below is the UI I created based on it’s palette and general modern aesthetic. I absolutely love NieR’s color choices for it’s UI elements so I decided to bring them into my project.
Project 3 – Constructed Image – Resources and Inspiration
Here are the images used for my project, and here’s the link to my main inspiration.
Project 3 – Constructed Image – “I feel like trash and this room feels like my bin.”
For my constructed image, I took various shots of garbage and random clutter and used them to populate the scene. I initially wanted to use the squalid conditions of my suite’s common room to set up a staged shot, but I got home one day to find the place spotlessly clean. Naturally, I improvised some garbage instead with Photoshop. The garbage bag on the far right is the only image I didn’t take myself, it’s a public domain image from the internet.
Task 3 – Light Painting
My light painting project, made using a strip of LED lights flashing rapidly between red, green and blue at seizure-inducing speeds. The first image – affectionally naming it The Curtain – was shot with a 10 second shutter speed. The second – The Mass – was at 20 seconds. Couldn’t decide which one I liked more so I just uploaded both.
ARS281 Lab – September 28th – Logo Design
Today I played around with logo creation. I like incorporating small splashes of color in my design concepts, so I went with a basic red on the B’s of my name:
I liked the way this looked, but I also wanted to play around a little artistically, so I created 2 more designs that are a little more abstract:
This one worked somewhat well, but the font I used didn’t lend itself to being stretch out. I went even more abstract after that:
While it’s quite minimalist and, in my opinion, elegant, a lot of people probably have the initials BB, so it wouldn’t do much to help me stand out from the crowd. As such, I went back to the first design I had an decided to touch it up with my blog’s URL. Honestly, just with that, it made it feel a lot cleaner and more professional.
This’ll be the logo I use from now on. For projects that require a smaller watermark or logo, I might go with the B^2 one.
