On top of being accessible, the app should be able to open quickly and allow for the user to open their daily check-in within seconds. The application should not allow the user to be distracted at the loading screen. A loading screen breaks the user’s focus and does not allow them the interaction that keeps the individual focused. Especially considering the risk that the user could get frustrated at the sight of multiple menus and loading screens, a user-friendly interface should mitigate the risk that the user deletes the app and gives up on treatment (Mattioli et al., 1996). The daily check-in should be the first screen that the user sees so they remain engaged and are not discouraged from using the app later on. Using an app that has to load makes the user believe they are wasting their time, which can lead to them ultimately deleting or avoiding the app (Radulovic, 2017). This would be the worst-case scenario, as we need the user to continue using the app so the physician can continue to monitor progress to see if the patient is getting worse or not.
