Final Design

  • PNS-based Prosthetic.
  • CNS (Central nervous system): Consists of brain and spinal cord.
  • PNS (Peripheral nervous system): Made up of nerves and ganglia throughout your body.
  • Using the PNS, we are able to extract nerve signals and combine them with EMG sensors to give the user mechanical and neural feedback.
  • Prosthetic will be 3D printed with almost 90% metal infused filament.
    • This allows for prosthetic to become cheaper as 3D printing becomes more efficient.
    • Also decreases weight and increases amount of precision in the designs measurements.
    • Custom designs become more easily available. Ex. Team logo.
  • Socket will be made of Kenaf fiber composite.
    • Kenaf is made of plant fiber so socket will likely be more comfortable than metal on the skin.
    • Kenaf is also very durable and can withstand impact very well because of its material properties when made into a composite.
