Splintex

OUR GOAL

This design focuses on assisting those with boxer’s fractures during rehabilitation and making their lives easier. Boxer’s fractures are usually treated with a cast and left alone to heal. What about those who have trouble using one hand for the time being? The Splintex is an attachment to the cast that helps with everyday weight-bearing tasks such as lifting up a cup. This design focuses on reducing the time someone has to go through to get used to using their hand once it is out of the cast, but without putting pressure on the injured site. The attachment takes most of the load off of the hand but still allows someone to keep their mobility.

MATERIAL

The attachment will be made of PLA, and it will be entirely 3D printed. The print would take roughly 6 hours to complete and it would be printed in
